I have been busy as can be on my Mystery book, Premedicated Murder. I got some feedback from an Agent that had me backing up and making some major changes to my story. I was hesitant at first, because I wanted a lighter feeling to my story, even with the death and adultery in it. My main character, Joanna, had a simple backstory. However, it might have been too simple, too plain and not relatable or believable. I gave her a tragic backstory that tied better to this initial storyline.
Despite my hesitation, I went forward with it and I think it turned out much better. It took up a lot of my time and energy, along with my day job and family.
I have also been working with a critique partner. I’m loving her book so much. I hope she gets it published in the future. Others should read it. She has really been helping me find typos and grammar issues.
Now my biggest obstacle is finding an agent to represent me/help me get published. I just don’t know how to market and sell my product to them well enough yet. Or, perhaps, there isn’t a market for my type of story.
I don’t fully believe that last sentence. I think people will like it and fully believe there is a market and audience out there for my book. I have had such positive feedback from people who have read it.
I just need to figure out what I’m doing wrong… and I will. I am in this to win this. My goal is to get this published and many more.
I’m hoping now that the big edit is over, that I’ll be able to write for this blog more. I just need to figure out my goal. More on that soon.
As always, thanks for the support.
